Aaahh Sleep

So last night, Ms. Chase slept from 10:30 til 4:00. It's not much to those of you still getting your 8 square hours but in this house it's something of a coup. Today I had lunch with Wendy and we walked "the avenue" to kill some time since it was so nice out. On the way back I spotted a minor celebrity as the girl from Ace of Cakes was sitting on the steps of Charm City smoking a cigarette with her headset still on. I thought that was pretty funny.

After a Long Night of Partying...

So sleepy...

Wednesday, February 21, 2007

Did I not ask for merlot?! Which is to say, she is already requesting breakfast in bed. Two eggs over easy and coffee black.

Chase's first pair of jeans and I finally remembered to put the booties I knitted on her.

A Few More Pics For Ya..

This is her new thing. She throws her fist into the air and then amuses herself by watching it.

Next bathtime I'll take some better pics... she's always doing cute stuff you know, like peeing on me and dang it I never have the camera. ;)

Since she decided to tolerate the sling, she spends at least some of the day hanging out in it.

Say cheese!

I just took her up to get ready for bed and I sat down to nurse her and she was like no thanks and knocked out. So now I'm just waiting for it... she's got to be hungry it's just a matter of time.
Or our busy day...

Since Danielle's internet connection is down I can't get pictures from this weekend but I have some cute ones from today. She likes to hold the keys and shake the hell out of them.

You Are Coming To A Sad Realization... Cancel or Allow?

So I watched Walk the Line this afternoon and came the sad realization that I spend way too much time watching reruns on tv. Granted, there's not a whole lot else I could be doing while Chase is nursing but I could have made huge progress on our queue by now.

We had fun this weekend, will post more pictures later.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Chub Doesn't Really Describe It

So we're back from the ped's office. Ms. Chase is weighing in at 12 lbs 2 oz. At her last appointment she weighed 8lbs 9 oz. He looked at her chart and was like uh, let's put her on the scale again and double check that and then later was like you know, let me just double check that the scale was properly calibrated. It was pretty funny. So now I guess that explains why her clothes were getting so tight. He made a joke about how I must have high calorie breast milk and should think about marketing it.... I laughed to be polite but honestly no jokes about industrializing breastfeeding I already feel like a milk machine.

Since we were already over that way we went to the mall for lunch and to celebrate. Lunch was crap but we got some really cute stuff. Gymboree is having a big sale and I got a tremendously cute little outfit at Nordstrom while we were on our way to the lounge. If the batteries in my camera weren't dead I'd take some pics, maybe later.

I broke out my sling again and tried it out. This time no crying. I guess she was just too little last time. She seems to really dig hanging out in the sling which is great cause it really frees up my hands.

Somehow I always manage to cut off the top of her head... she moves too fast already.

We're Back

Well we're back from our trip to the big city. Considering that I didn't have to lift a finger, moving was fabulous. More importantly I think that dinner at Ted's Montana was damn good. I think that everyone enjoyed their dinner in spite of the fact that I led the table in singing happy birthday. As fat as chain restaurants go I was pretty happy with the quality of food for the price and the service and atmosphere was pretty good. Of course, if your restaurant is lacking atmosphere with a location like Broad and Spruce you're doing something very very wrong. We were originally supposed to be a party of 8 with 3 babies, but ended up with only 2 babes... which was plenty. At some point they were both crying and other people were definitely like uh.... about these tables you gave us. But it was only momentary and everything was fine.

Today we met friends and hit Costco. They're considering joining for the prices on diapers and gas etc. As usual we showed very little restraint and bought all kinds of nonsense. I used the industrial sized container of ricotta cheese and sack of mozzarella to make two huge lasagnes semi-homemade style which is all I can manage lately. I also roasted three split chicken breasts to use during the week for chicken salad and crap. Of course now I'm thinking enchiladas but unfortunately passed over the industrial sized container of sour cream that I would need to make them. I guess I'll do it all the same since I'll have to make a special trip to Safeway for salsa verde anyway.

Tomorrow is a busy day I have my 6 week pp appointment and a play date over lunch... and now a stop at the grocery store. Good thing I've become pretty quick at nursing in the car :)

I'll post pics as soon as I get them. I couldn't find my camera all through dinner. It was in my bag the whole time... of course.

It's Coooooold

I can't believe that the week we were in the hospital the weather was beautiful and now the temp barely climbs to 20 every day. In spite of the crappy weather we ventured out today. This is going to be a busy weekend so we didn't do too much and then came right back and had a nap. I seem to need more naps than Ms. Chase. That's fine so long as she keeps sleeping at night. Wow, this has turned out to be a tremendously boring post but I guess that's what you get after a day like today.

We're heading up to Philadelphia tomorrow so undoubtedly I'll have some pictures from that. I'll try my best to redeem myself.

How Cool

is this? My sister did it for me. It's a picture of myself that I've never seen.

That's Not Gas

Day 2: Boobie Madness

So she likes the bottles which is good because they fit the standard size bottles I already have. I've started pumping and storing in the freezer to build up a little stash. I've discovered that it's best to pump a little first because it takes the edge off what I can only best describe as an open fire hydrant with a sprinkler cap on. She gulps and gulps as fast as she can but sometimes it just can't be contained. Oh, and sure enough Chels just like you warned me the feeling of your milk letting down is NOT like anything I've ever felt before.

Let's see... what else happened today... we got some cool toys for Chase. Keys and a little brightly colored elephant that's all crinkly and jingly for her to grab and look at. We had salmon for dinner (god bless costco) and Ben just brought me the world's saddest cookie. Truly the saddest cookie I've ever seen. I will eat it just to put it out of its misery.

Nipple Experiment Day 1

So I prepped a bottle for Chase with one of the new test nipples that I picked up yesterday. By the looks of it, this one has potential it could be the one. We've been using the swaddle me that Wendy gave us and it turns out that it's awesome. She's only managed to wriggle free once and you can get her swaddled good and tight much faster that you can with a blanket. Thus far it's worked like a charm for nighttime sleeping.

So I tried to take a picture of my scar but it wasn't much to look at. However, for those of you who are curious, rest assured there is hope. 4 weeks out I'm almost back to my original size.

The Journey Back

As I stood in line buying new jeans this morning it occurs to me I should have chronicled my belly's journey back to normal... or almost normal. Maybe tomorrow I'll take a picture of my scar. I finally checked it out only to find that there's really nothing there but it took me a while to work up to really examining it. So, so long maternity clothes I'm back on the horse.

We had friends over today and went out for lunch/dinner. We had a great time, Chase included. We hit Donna's for again for lunch/dinner and I finally tried the pan bagna... mmm... Well, off to get ready for bed before Chase is up from her pre-bedtime nap. She slept soundly in her crib last night so fingers crossed for another good night.

Before I go, a few pics. The bouncy chair is the new best spot and of course I can't get enough of the little bear outfit.

February's First Friday

So I got signed up for a study today. Basically I have two weeks to try their nursing pads, milk storage bags, bottles, and nipples... and they pay me... sweet! Met Wendy at the mall today. The babes had a good time sleeping while we walked and talked. The women's lounge at Nordstrom is a wonderful thing and we were able to nurse and change the babies in there with no problem.

I went to class yesterday and was pleasantly surprised to find that the class was actually interesting. I wasn't that optimistic about how potentially interesting commercial transactions could be. I actually contemplated not choosing my classes based on scheduling instead of oh, I don't know interest maybe but now I have nothing to worry about so no lesson learned.

Tomorrow we're having visitors so maybe I'll get some cute pictures. She'll be really smiling soon.
